Some Prototypes

I'm ALWAYS building something. I can't stop making stuff in Unity in my free time. I don't document my prototypes quite enough as I should, so i've decided to do a blog post with some of my most recent prototypes/games.

Current project: Project Atlantis

This is a 4 player co-op horror game inspired by the current friendslop trend. Its my first time delving into networking (which has been a bit of a different way of thinking when implementing things, but made relatively easy thanks to Fusion). Its also my first project using AI-Assisted programming, as I wanted to see just how useful it can be.

Heres: a quick video of it in its current state (its still very early, with a lot of complex systems and jank):

Cookie Crawl

This was something I made in the Brackey's game jam in August 2025. I wanted to create a rage game inspired by QWOP, but something that felt (at least to me) less unfair. I wanted it to feel a little awkward, but not so much that I couldnt walk more than 2 metres and then rage quit. So I took some inspo from the really old trials bike flash games and made a small level about climbing over obstacles. I also incorporated some cookies, because the theme was Risk it for the Biscuit (I took it figuratively and literally). There was a system about going more dangerous/difficult routes to collect more cookies, at the risk of falling and losing all your cookies

Play the game on itch here: https://joshhardy123.itch.io/cookie-crawl

Duolarity (Working Title, I promise)

This is a local multiplayer puzzle games inspired by portal and half life. I have this passion for space and black holes so decided I wanted to make a game featuring some cool space physics puzzles. Its an isometric game where players have gravity guns, these gravity guns form the basis of most puzzles where players need to not only think outside the box, but also time inputs and work together to solve problems.

Here's a link to the game, currently on itch: https://joshhardy123.itch.io/duolarity

(Only windows will work)

Heres a gameplay video if you'd prefer:

Mindful Microworlds

This is less of a game, and more of an interactive (ish) experience. I wanted to create a tamagotchi style mindful game. Players would have these little worlds with a character in, perform a single daily mindful action with the character, and then over time unlock new worlds. Within each room there are some really calm and relaxing sounds, such as fire crackling or a storm outside, each of these sounds can be adjusted individually to create each individual persons perfect relaxation audio. I love making the Gryffindor common room inspired world, and this was a nice break from more intense projects.

Here is a video of the game (apologies for the poor quality):

Gladiator Mobile

This was a project inspired by spartacus legends. I wanted to create an engaging mobile gladiator game with realtime controls. Players would swipe the right side of the screen to attack (different directions triggered a directional attack from the same swipe direction) and the left side of the screen was used to dodge/evade. This was a fun thing to get owrking on mobile and the controls were a little complex for your average mobile user but I think hardcore players would enjoy this! I wish I added some more feedback as its a little stiff, and isnt perfectly clear when your attack was successfully blocked by the ai. Heres a little video (the only one I got) of this prototype (apologies for this one too, it was recorded on mobile):

Platforming Ape

This idea initially stemmed from my enjoyment from Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and (slightly embarrassingly) the growing interest in GameStop and "Apes". I decided to make a game about being an ape and fighting the "Hedgies"...Anyway, this was a weird challenge of getting 2.5D platforming working as I wanted. Admittedly ran into a couple physics problems with some wall jumping but it was a fun challenge to get Unity to bend to my will.

Heres the gameplay video:

And a fun cinematic game start sequence I am way too happy with for something so simple:

Thats some of my most recent stuff, I have done more but nothing worth showing! I also have made other full games on my itch (a while ago) such as "Animal Dash" which I published on App Store and Google play (which got me my first job in the industry), and RAGNARÖK (a third person action-adventure) among others.
